Statewide and Local Elected Officials Endorse Businesswoman and Non-Profit Executive Dallas Fowler for 54th Assembly District Seat

(Los Angeles, CA) - - On the heels of Assemblymember Sydney Kamlager’s resounding Senate victory, Dallas Fowler, local non-profit leader, announces her candidacy for the CA Assembly.

Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, enthusiastically endorsed Fowler and shared, “Dallas Fowler is the clear choice to represent the 54th District in the Assembly. As a businesswoman, non-profit executive, and active member of countless organizations, Dallas is a proven leader. I am proud to join a broad coalition of organizations and leaders supporting Dallas. She is a master at bringing people together and bridging divisions to find solutions to tough problems.”

The Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis went on to say, “There is no candidate more keenly aware of the challenges California faces as we work towards a full economic recovery. Dallas has a strong track record of fighting for working families, students, and our most vulnerable un-housed residents. I look forward to working with her to address California's toughest challenges in public higher education, housing and the environment.”

Fowler has lived in and around the district her entire life, which includes parts of Los Angeles, Culver City and Inglewood. A former Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles, she served on the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls and the Police Permit Review Panel under Mayor Eric Garcetti working to combat human trafficking and expose women and girls to careers in technology.

California State Treasurer
Fiona Ma, said, “I am pleased to endorse Dallas Fowler to represent the constituency of the 54th Assembly District. I have known her for several years and with her background in financial services, she presents excellent ideas and solutions in the area of improving financial literacy, public education and the environment. Dallas supports public banking to ensure the unbanked have equity in financial services and partner with local banks and credit unions to reinvest and revitalize our communities.”
Actively paid on campaigns for over 20 years, Dallas was a long time California Democratic Party Delegate and Alternate Member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party representing the 54th AD. and served as a Delegate for Senator Bernie Sanders to the 2016 and 2020 Democratic National Conventions.

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, Jr., said, “Dallas Fowler is the perfect leader to represent us in Sacramento. I have valued Dallas’ wise counsel and support in a number of areas. She has been a staunch advocate of our efforts to ensure that current Inglewood residents are able to share in the prosperity of the new Inglewood. When we were fighting to bring sports and entertainment back to Inglewood, Dallas Fowler was there in Sacramento, lobbying for legislation that would put Inglewood on equal footing with major cities competing for sports teams. Dallas Fowler is a community leader.  Her tireless advocacy of our City Council and residents' efforts helped to resurrect the sports entertainment industry that gave Inglewood the title of the "City of Champions."  This great sports entertainment tourism industry will make us a national and international destination, bringing much needed hospitality revenue and JOBS for our workers and the city. Dallas prioritizes public safety and education. Leaders like Dallas Fowler create better communities for all."

Principal Partner of a boutique digital and print media firm specializing in business development consulting, Dallas has provided training for small to midsize firms. She also currently serves on the boards of Southwest College Foundation and is Chair of an African American art museum in the district. In 2010, she founded Helping Empowered Individuals Reach Success PAC and is a member and executive of the CA Coalition for Clean Water and Reliability.

Gloria D. Gray, Chairwoman, Metropolitan Water District, said,  “I have watched Dallas Fowler become one of the most authentic progressive leaders in our region. Her  track record and on the ground experience in construction, financial services and sustainable communities uniquely prepares her to represent us at the state level. Dallas understands the importance of ensuring a safe and reliable drinking water supply for California. She knows water is a human right and supports public infrastructure and will oppose any efforts to privatize our water for profit.”

Fowler, a strong advocate for affordable housing, also has experience in the construction industry and has held positions from entry-level to management. She served in the areas of Contractor Outreach and Social Responsibility; Business Development; and ran the Turner School of Construction Management.
In declaring her reasons for running, Fowler said, “As a life-long Democrat, non-profit executive and businesswoman, I have dedicated my life to serving my community. I know first-hand how devastating the pandemic has been for all of us. My brother and my uncles lost good paying jobs, while my step-father, a pastor in our community, died of Covid. My sisters and nephew are still recovering from the side-effects of this deadly virus. As the vaccine rolls out and people discuss a return to “normal,” I am running to represent the 54th Assembly District because our community simply cannot afford a return to business as usual.”
Dr. George J. McKenna III, LAUSD Board Member District 1, declared that, “Dallas is the progressive leader we need in Sacramento; a fearless public education advocate and entrepreneur with a strong commitment to improving educational outcomes for all our students. Her goal is to increase financial literacy and opportunities for careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). Dallas supports investments in career technical education to put people on a path for the middle class and create generational wealth.”

Fowler is a past officer and lifetime member of the New Frontier Democratic Club and a founding member of a host of democratic clubs throughout the district, including The Black Los Angeles Young Democrats; Black Women’s Democratic Club, South LA Democratic Club and the Muslim American Democratic Club of Southern California.

A graduate of Westchester High School, Fowler received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from, Florida A & M University (an HBCU).  As part of her undergraduate studies, she also completed her last semester of course work in Financial Management at UCLA.

Her campaign kick off, to be held in March, will be announced via her website: www.dallasfowler.com.
