Dallas supports a single payer healthcare system and she knows that business as usual created the “underlying health conditions” like diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure, that are omnipresent in communities of color and cruelly shorten our lifespans. Our communities literally cannot survive a return to business as usual. As your next Assemblywoman, Dallas promises that there will be no return to business as usual on her watch.
As a Black Woman, Dallas understands the necessity of protecting constitutional rights and is a top proponent for police accountability. She has organized to ensure that the City and the County of Los Angeles funded body cameras for the Sheriffs and LAPD. She will ensure the right public service agents answers mental health calls and other non-criminal responders. She supports ending qualified immunity. She will ensure coroners are accountable to us, The People, and not law enforcement. Dallas will work to end the unfair enhancements and mandatory minimums that are often slapped on youth without real rehabilitation. She will work to ensure that rehabilitation begins on Day One for the incarcerated and is currently working to provide an career training programs for our juveniles within the LA County Jails. Dallas will also advocate for more funding to ensure there are adequate mental health professionals serving this population. As a Delegate to the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, Dallas supported resolutions for both Measure R and Measure J to receive the party’s endorsement.
Dallas will work to fund a Green New Deal bringing 500,000 new jobs to California restoring our ecology, driving renewable energy, and cleaning our oceans. She understands small business is vital to our communities and has a background in small business development and will work to restore many of the businesses that had to close their doors due to covid. As a former grant panelist for the federal government, she knows exactly how to bring resources to our district. Dallas will fight to bring crucial dollars from the American Rescue Plan and the Biden Administration’s Jobs Plan to restore our infrastructure. She is bringing apprenticeship programs in the area of arts and entertainment, healthcare, and construction from West LA to South LA. She will ensure there is an employment office brought back to the Crenshaw District.
