Arts & Entertainment
In addition to her experiences with Construction and Financial Services, Dallas Fowler has had the opportunity to work in media as Social Media Manager for the The Tavis Smiley Show on PBS and assisted with production on his live televised events on C-SPAN like the State of the Black Union, We Count, and Latino Nation.
Fowler also served as the Lead Producer for the City of Los Angeles Tribute to Prince Roger Nelson on the steps of City Hall. Dallas is the President and Board Chair of the Museum of African American Art on the third floor of the Macy’s in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. She has done a lot of work to preserve the legacy of its almost 45 year history and expose the Los Angeles area to African American Artists and provide a launching pad for new artists,
Politics & Early Activism
Fowler’s earliest political memory was stuffing envelopes for Jesse Jackson and Michael Dukakis in the late 80’s. Her first paid campaign work came while working for Gloria Gray Campaign for Inglewood School Board back in the early to mid 90’s, Dallas was only 14 years old. Introduced to politics and service at an early age, Dallas served her community as a Girl Scout, and ultimately served in high school student government as Senior Class Secretary and Prom Chair.
A moment of transformation came when Dallas was away at college and was turned away from her local polling center in the 2000 Presidential election by way of intimidation. Racism and voter suppression was staring her in the face. She was ultimately able to cast her vote for Al Gore at a nearby capitol building but it was that moment that catapulted Dallas into the Democratic Activist that she is today. She would go on to help a fellow student by the name of Andrew Gillum successfully run for City Commissioner.
Dallas would go on to become a results oriented political strategist and campaign consultant with strong communication, strategic planning, message development, problem solving, resource maximization and project management skills, actively paid on campaigns for over 20 years with 15+ years of construction, community affairs, supplier diversity, marketing, social media, crisis management, property management, and televised production experience, ushering in Mayors and a new county supervisor Holly J.
